AMMAN — Jordan’s tourism sector is experiencing a strong revival, with new figures revealing a substantial surge in both visitor numbers and revenue during the first half of 2025. The momentum remained strong in June alone, with 595,000 international visitors arriving in the country — an 8% year-on-year increase — despite ongoing challenges in the region.

Tourism revenues also recorded solid growth. In the first five months of 2025, income from the sector reached JD2.167 billion, reflecting a 16% rise from JD1.873 billion in the same timeframe last year.

One of the standout destinations remains the Dead Sea, which attracted 2.717 million visitors in the first half of 2025, up 14% from 2.375 million in 2024. Daily visitors to the area saw an even sharper rise, increasing by 40%, from 411,000 to 575,000.

The Ministry highlighted ongoing infrastructure upgrades, enhanced services, and increased employment opportunities as key strategies to support sustainable tourism growth.

Muntaha Ismail, Marketing Director at a local tourism office, credited the positive performance to strategic outreach and long-term planning.

“We’ve expanded our reach into new international markets using modern digital campaigns. Jordan is increasingly seen as a dynamic and diverse travel destination,” she explained.

Rabei Bashar, an employee with a major hotel group in Jordan, praised the growing collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“With better air connectivity and a wider range of accommodations, Jordan is more accessible and welcoming than ever. We've seen at least a 20% increase in guests in recent weeks,” he noted.

As Jordan continues to position itself as a key player in regional tourism, the latest figures underscore the resilience and adaptability of its travel and hospitality industry.
