Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Water and Irrigation Minister Hazem Nasser on Wednesday opened the Jordan Food Exhibition 2017, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The five-day fair, which is held at the Expo Land near airport, is organised by the International Promoters Company (IPCO), in cooperation with Amman Chamber of Industry, the Islamic International Arab Bank and Giant Industrial Group.
The food fair aims to promote Jordanian products among domestic and international consumers, and to highlight the “high standards of all of Jordan’s imported and locally produced food”, a statement from the organisers said.
IPCO General Manager Raed Abu Saadeh said that the fair will be open between July 5 and 9, from 4pm to 11pm every day.
The largest food exhibition in the Kingdom, the fair will include Jordanian-made and imported food products, in addition to products from the packaging sector, Saadeh noted.
It is also an opportunity for residents to better understand the role of the food sector in providing the domestic market with food items from various countries, in line with the high international standards, according to the organiser.
Visitors will also have the chance to sample a variety of alternative food products available on the domestic market, the manager said.
Saadeh noted that the expo, which will gather importers, traders, manufacturers and owners of hypermarkets and shopping malls, will include free samples of the showcased food items.
In addition to food tasting, Saadeh said that “Jordan Food 3” will include the distribution of gifts, a children play area and parking lots, as the organisers are expecting a large turnout of consumers due to “the quality of the showcased products”.
